Lee
founded JackRabbit to help other people
make the same transformation that he has
made in the past few years. Lee decided
it was time for a change when he hit 210
lbs and got out of breath going up a flight
of stairs. After first choosing running
as a way to get in shape and lose weight,
Lee fell in love with triathlon and has
been hooked ever since. He has done two
half-Ironman races, several sprint and Olympic
distance races, more than a dozen half-marathons,
and just finished the NYC Marathon in 2003.
He is currently training for a half-Ironman
in the fall of 2004 and Ironman Lake Placid
in 2005. He tries to spend as much time
as possible with his son, Joshua, and wife
Teri. |

Carole
moved to Manhattan from London
with her husband 7 years ago, and to Park
Slope in 2001. Carole took up running in
1998 after being inspired by watching the
NYC marathon in front of her apartment,
then began training and fundraising with
Team In Training & Leukemia Society of America
and never looked back. An active Brooklyn
Road Runners Club member, she qualified
for the Boston Marathon after the NYC Marathon
last fall, and is about to run her 10th
marathon this spring in Paris. When
not focused on running, Carole, who has
a bachelor's in psychology and artificial
intelligence, loves watching films, reading,
and traveling, is also an avid scuba diver
and plans on being a PADI certified instructor
someday soon. |
 |
Johanna
started running in 1996 as stress relief
from her work researching human rights violations
and war crimes for organizations such as
Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International.
All that travel messed with her training,
so she hung up her passport and now obsesses
about running shoes instead. In her free
time, she teaches criminal justice to undergrads
at John Jay College. Johanna is a frequent
recreational racer; she's completed a couple
marathons, a bunch of half marathons and,
after training with the JackRabbit training
program, won the Athena division in her
first-ever triathlon last July. |

Todd
has been an athlete since he was six years
old. He was a competitive swimmer through
high school, has run in three NYC Marathons,
over a dozen half-marathons, two Ironman
distance races (he's signed up for his third
Ironman at Lake Placid in 2006), and competed
in countless shorter distance duathlons
and triathlons. Todd is also a poet, having
published four volumes of poetry with Soft
Skull Press. He's performed his work not
only on PBS, but at venues ranging from
The Whitney Museum to P.S. 122. He has taught
numerous writing workshops and curated a
reading series at the prestigious Poetry
Project at St Mark's Church. He was the
lead singer for the critically acclaimed
band Drunken Boat, and an actor whose characters
you might recall from his MTV on-air promotional
spots in the mid-nineties. His passion for
endurance athletics has led him to JackRabbit
where his knowledge, boundless energy and
engaging manner can be put to use in advising
and assisting the growing running and triathlon
community in Brooklyn. |

A runner since
high school, Amy fell in
love with triathlons after doing the St.
Anthony’s Triathlon with Team in Training
in 2003—it got her out of the house
after her first cold Brooklyn winter teaching
8th grade earth science students. Since
then she’s put more than a dozen races
under her belt, from sprints to the half
Ironman, and has found a good use for her
stern, schoolteacher glare to make sure
JackRabbit customers buy the right size
shoes. Amy’s currently training for
the NYC marathon and her first Lake Placid
Ironman in 2006. |

Mike’s
love for running and triathlon grew out
of his soccer-playing youth. A Boston-native,
he recently moved to New York after a run-in
of a different kind—a car trashed
his bike, ending his messenger career. JackRabbit
was a natural transition, as Park Slope
is a great fit for his unfathomable devotion
to the Red-Sox. He’s currently focusing
his training on longer distance running
and hopes to qualify for the NYC marathon
in 2006. |

Christine
has been an educator, classroom teacher,
and administrator for over 30 years. She
is a Pro Trainer at NYSC, is ACE (American
Council on Exercise) certified, NASM (National
Academy of Sports Medicine) certified, and
is also a Water Safety Instructor (Red Cross
WSI certified) teaching swimming to all
levels as well as a Lifeguard Training Instructor.
She is an active member of the Prospect
Park Track Club and the Red Tide Masters
Swim Team. Her accomplishments include a
mere 15 NYC marathons, 6 triathlons, and
age group awards in local road races. Chrstine
loves to train hard, work hard and play
hard!!!! |

Jonathan
was inspired to start running by his father,
who’s done the NYC marathon 13 times.
While away in school he started mountain
biking to mix things up, and upon returning
to the city he was set to become a triathlete.
He caught the bug and has done more than
15 triathlons in the past 2 years. Jonathan
has a degree in mechanical engineering,
but has recently quit his corporate job
to join the JackRabbit crew. Jonathan is
a F.I.S.T. certified bike fitter and the
resident bike geek. He’s also one
of the founders and President of the Brooklyn
Triathlon Club. |
 |
Tim
went for his first run when he was in 7th
grade, in which he stretched one spontaneous
lap around his neighborhood into seven...ish.
He was hooked. Since then he's run in many
races, road and cross country, including
three marathons and two Providian Relays
since 2001. He runs with the Brooklyn Road
Runners Club and he spent a year with the
New York Road Runners Foundation, coaching
kids in after school and YMCA programs.
He recently completed a masters degree in
education and is teaching middle school.
He cooks a mean eggplant parm, thanks to
his mother's explicit instructions. |
