Swimming is a sport of efficiency, not pure strength.
At JackRabbit, we focus on the tools and techniques to help make
you a more comfortable, streamlined swimmer. We start with a wide
selection of swimsuits for men and women of all shapes and sizes.
When you come to us for goggles, we encourage you to try them on
to make sure you get a good, watertight fit without needing to make
the strap uncomfortably tight. And we keep a wide selection of training
tools like hand-paddles, fins, pull-buoys, kickboards, resistance
bands and drag suits. Top it off with a big selection of swim caps
and you're set to start swimming.
Triathletes usually race in wetsuits, which are the
most expensive piece of equipment in the sport when you consider
how much time you actually use them. We have selected two different
brands of wetsuits, each of which fits differently. Our staff is
trained to help you pick the right size in each brand, to help you
determine which brand fits you better, and to help you decide whether
you'll be satisfied with the basic level wetsuits or whether an
upgrade will help your swim segment and leave you in better shape
for the bike and run.
We encourage everyone to test a wetsuit before you
buy by taking advantage of our rental program. You pay $75 to rent
an entry level suit for the weekend (Thurs through Tues). For up
to two weeks afterwards, you can apply that $75 towards the purchase
of any wetsuit. Many of the suits in our rental program are brand
new, so many people just pay the balance and keep the suit they
rented. Others rent an entry level suit to ensure they're getting
the right size in a higher end suit. Others who are between sizes
will rent one size to decide if it fits, and if not they purchase
the other size. And if you're only planning to do one race this
year, by all means rent a wetsuit and save your money instead of
buying one!
Our swim training programs are one of our most popular
offerings. We focus on training people to swim long distances comfortably,
since distance swimming is the best route to overall fitness and
is an essential component of triathlon. The swim program is divided
into three levels, and within those levels we subdivide swimmers
into differently paced lanes - so everyone has an opportunity to
learn to swim better without pressure to simply swim harder.
